The Arena is buzzing mid-way through Season 4, with Update 4.6.0 introducing balance changes, bug fixes, and numerous improvements across weapons, animations, and gameplay mechanics. With HOLTOW’s sponsorship coming to an end, fans now welcome ISEUL-T as the next sponsor. Players also have until November 15 to redeem event tickets and unlock exclusive items in the Trick or Treat event.
Balance Adjustments: Weapons and Gadgets
This patch features critical balance changes for popular weapons, bringing them in line with community feedback and competitive gameplay needs:
- Healing Beam: The effective range has been reduced, lowering the max healing and target distances to limit long-range team support and encourage closer positioning.
- Pike-556: Decreased damage to 47 with adjustments for better long-range performance, creating a more defined role as a ranged weapon rather than a close-quarters powerhouse.
- Sword: The secondary attack's lunge range has been reduced by 1.5 meters, offering less reach in close encounters and balancing the sword’s effectiveness in fast-paced melee combat.
- Pyro Grenades: Now damage shields like Dome and Mesh, giving players more versatility in countering defensive setups.
Content and Bug Fixes
This update addresses numerous bugs and performance issues, enhancing both visual and gameplay stability:
- Animation Fixes: Adjustments were made to eliminate clipping issues with beards and helmets, correct weapon animation inconsistencies, and improve sprint animations for smoother gameplay.
- Audio Adjustments: Improved in-game audio with new lines, bug fixes for announcer timing, and enhanced voiceover quality for key moments.
- Contract and Score Adjustments: Healing and revive-based contracts now progress only when healing from enemy damage. Fixes also address scoring issues with throwable kills and environmental damage display errors.
- Customization Improvements: Headwear visibility has been enhanced, especially at a distance, while the “Tacticool” charm’s weight was adjusted to prevent erratic movement.
Game Modes, Maps, and UI Improvements
- Map Enhancements: The Kyoto and Seoul maps received collision and layout improvements to optimize traversal and readability, while suspended barrel bags return to the Practice Range.
- UI Updates: Added settings for tutorial hints, a refreshed matchmaking widget, and visual fixes for sponsor progression screens to ensure a seamless user experience.
Performance and Stability
- Resolution Scaling: Temporal Super-Resolution (TSR) now provides smoother performance and clearer visuals, especially helpful on Xbox Series S.
- Stability Fixes: Resolves issues with large-scale destruction effects, improving performance for late joiners and reconnecting players. Xbox Series S players should also see improved gameplay stability.
