Apex Legends is taking players back to where it all started with its latest update, From The Rift, featuring a nostalgic Launch Royale mode that brings players to the original 2019 Apex Legends experience. Players can test their old-school skills in classic settings, devoid of EVO Armor, modern upgrades, and other recent innovations, with challenges that reward Apex Packs and Legend unlocks.
Lifeline Revived: New Abilities
In a major update, Lifeline, Apex Legends’ original medic, has been reimagined as a powerful frontline Legend. With new moves like the Combat Glide for quick positioning, D.O.C. Heal Drone to follow allies, and the D.O.C. Halo ultimate for increased healing speed, Lifeline combines support with aggressive tactics to dominate the battlefield.
Rift Relics & Cosmic Powers
The update introduces Rift Relics from an unstable tear in reality, offering powerful weapons and Survival Slot items, like the EPG-1 Launcher with splash damage capabilities and Boost Kits that grant abilities such as Lifesteal and Reactive Regen. These Relics appear randomly and bring exciting options for both offense and defense.
New Support Class Perks
In this season, Support Legends gain specializations with two new perks: Heal Expert for faster movement while healing and Revive Expert for accelerated revive times. Additionally, Support Legends can now find Mobile Respawn Beacons in ally Death Boxes and enjoy health regen boosts upon reviving allies.
Battle Sense Improvements
In response to community feedback, Apex Legends has introduced enhanced player awareness features, such as prompts for low health and ammo. These improvements aim to offer better in-game awareness, especially for newer players, and can be adjusted in settings for a customized experience.
New Universal Melee Cosmetic: Raptor’s Claw
The update also debuts Raptor’s Claw, a sleek Universal Melee Cosmetic available in the Void Mercenary Store. This cosmetic and its matching variants allow players to wield a sharp new look in the Apex Games, available until early January 2025.
Balance, Bug Fixes, and Gameplay Updates
- Weapon Tweaks: The L-STAR and Longbow receive boosts to damage, while weapons like the Spitfire and P2020 get precision improvements.
- Support Class Adjustments: Support Legends see improved health recovery and respawn advantages, particularly with the Mobile Respawn Beacons.
- Quality of Life: Enhancements to the Firing Range, Loot Bin reset mechanics, and mythic bins, plus visual and performance optimizations for smoother gameplay.
Map and Mode Rotations
Alongside a variety of new gameplay tweaks, From The Rift offers rotating map and mode events through the season, with “BigTDM,” Control, and Gun Run in the Mixtape. Ranked skill displays have also been improved to better reflect match balance.
